The Ouarzazate International Film Festival takes place between 18th and 23th of April within the town of Ouarzazate. The festival shows short movies from filmmakers from Morocco and abroad. The festival takes place at the foot of the Sahara and therefore within the range of the distinctive culture and history of filmmaking location. This place is additionally referred to as Hollywood Morocco 

This is an opportunity for indigenous peoples and guests to get acquainted with the cinema industry. The Ouarzazate International Film Festival accepts only short films of all genres. Non-English language films have to be subtitled in English.

Ouarzazate needs such activities because the surrounding is well known by film makers. They can also attract more tourists. Not only tourists and movie makers but also local people will enjoy a different kinds of short movies.

Ait Ben Haddou consists of traditional houses built from earth and straw and spread over a hill in groups. The homes are clustered within these walls, reinforced by towers, and the site is UNESCO heritage. Ait Ben Haddou which is located in Ouarzazate is ancient architecture from southern Morocco. The kasbahs were already used several times as a setting in famous films like the Gladiator and Game of thrones. When visiting Ouarzazate there are some movie studios that can be visited, Atlas Film Studios is one of them. The studio is located on the right side of the way to Marrakech. The entry is not free, it will cost about 5 euros. It is a favorite place for photographers
