Accommodation in Nkob & Tazzarine

Tazzarine and Nkoub are two villages in southeastern Morocco on the way to the famous Erg Chebbi desert. The road passes other small villages on the N12 between Ouarzazate and Rissani. The area is very quiet and offers the visitor a vast landscape with beautiful views of palm groves and mountains. The region is also famous for the cultivation of henna, and its good-quality of dates.

On the right side way, before the center of the village of Tazzarine, the road leads to an oasis where petroglyphs can be found. These petroglyphs of Ait Ouazik date back to around 5000 BC.

If you are looking for accommodation to explore the area, there is in Tamsahelte a quiet kasbah with 9 comfortable rooms. All rooms are built in an authentic style, typical of the region. The walls in Tadelakt and the roofs are made of palm trunks and thatch. The doors are also made of palm trees.

Visit Nkob

Nkob is a village in the Zagora provincie, Morocco. It is considered the capital of the Ait Atta tribe and offers wonderful views of the village and the palm grove.

If you plan to visit Nkob, you can also visit the nearby mountains (Bab Nali) and the market. On Sunday mornings there is a market where locals do their shopping and people meet to exchange all kinds of news.

How do you get to Nkob Village?

If you are traveling from Marrakesh, there are many options available to get to Nkob. If you choose to travel by bus, I recommend traveling with CTM company as it offers comfortable buses and well organized itinerary. CTM buses don't stop everywhere, they stop from one station to another. The trip from Marrakesh includes 3 stops, one at High Atlas for lunch and the other stops at Ouarzazate and Agdez en route.

To get to Nkob from Zagora, it is much easier to travel by shared taxi than by bus. And the best way to get around is, of course, to rent a car, so you can explore the region without any rush.

Nkob, the village of 45 kasbahs

Nkob is known as the village of 45 kasbahs in southeastern Morocco. In the village, almost all of the old kasbahs have been restored and maintained. Some of them have become accommodations that welcome travelers from all over the world. Nkob is located about 327 kilometers from the famous city of Marrakesh, at the crossroads of the fertile valleys of Ziz, Draa, and Dades. In recent years, a new asphalt road has been created, the road led through Jebel Soghro with many ascents to Boumalne Dades.

In the surrounding villages, you will find beautiful henna gardens shaded by palm trees and a variety of almond and fig fields.

Nkob Souk

Also in the nearby villages, you can experience the daily life of the Berbers of Morocco in one of the souks on your way to the Sahara desert. The following are the days when the open-air markets are held:

Wednesday Market in Tazzrine

Thursday market in Agdz

Sunday market in Nkob, Zagora, and Erfoud
