Fredericton is located in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. It’s situated on the Saint John River that separates the city. It’s the third-largest city in the province. Fredericton is an important cultural center of Canada with its many museums, theatres, and events.

Here are a few things to do in Fredericton to help you get your vacation planned.

York Sunbury Museum–Also called the Fredericton Region Museum, it runs entirely on donations. This museum focuses on the history of the region and contains a nice collection of artifacts that include Victorian gowns, a 10,000-year-old Clovis point, and a 100-year-old cake.

Beaverbrook Art Gallery–This is the provincial art gallery that was established in 1959 by Lord Beaverbrook, as a gift to the province. It contains over 300 works, including art by J.M.W. Turner and Salvador Dali. Over the years the building has undergone expansion to hold more art.

New Brunswick Summer Music Festival–This festival is held each August and focuses on classical music. Both local players and nationally famous musicians are in attendance. The Symphony of New Brunswick performs most of its season in Fredericton.

Historic Marysville–This is a community that has joined together with Fredericton, back in 1973. It has its own distinct history. It’s located on the Nashwaak River, which connects to the Saint John River, and was an old mill town. The community has still retained some of its 19th-century historical buildings. The old mill still dominates much of the city line today.

Residents who live here enjoy one of the highest per capita incomes in the country. You’ll find many things to do in Fredericton that are focused on the public sector, but a high percentage of artists and performers live here too.
