Can you travel Morocco without a tour guide?
Hi,
Next year, I’m planning a trip to Morocco with my family. I’ve always traveled independently—renting a car, using maps, and guidebooks—without relying on tours or guides. But now I’m wondering if I might miss out on Morocco’s highlights without a guide. As I get older, I’m considering whether a guided tour might be worth it to make the most of the experience.
Thanks for any advices!

Hi Ali,
Morocco is an incredible country, and both independent travel and guided tours have their perks. If you’re comfortable navigating on your own, Morocco’s roads and cities are manageable with a bit of preparation. However, hiring a guide or joining a small tour can give you deeper insights into its culture, history, and hidden gems, especially in places like the medinas or Sahara.
You might consider a mixing things up: exploring independently places that are easy to navigate and hiring local guides for specific places like the medina of Fes or Marrakech. It’s a great way to get the best of both worlds.
Safe travels!
Can you travel to Morocco without a tour guide?
No, you don't need a tour guide! you can rent a car and travel on your own using Google Maps and books. In the medinas like in Fes Google maps is not applicable.
